Mini Groms Bike Camp (Ages 7-9)
Mini Groms Bike Camp Ages 7-9
Try exciting new terrain along with new features while developing important mountain biking skills guided by our skilled instructors in our Mini Groms Bike Camp. Participants will roam our network of trails, spend time refining their technique at our skills park, and build confidence while making new friends in a fun learning environment.
Equipment Required
Front and rear disk brakes.
Front suspension recommended not a must.
A certified approved helmet
Advanced kids – preferred full face and shin pads as they will be doing more technical terrain.
Proper shoes – no sandals, crocs or boots, must be a proper running/bike shoe.
Beginner (Level 1)
Can pedal and stay balanced on bumpy or grassy terrain.
Safe use of brakes on and off pathways.
Key Goals for camp
Can pedal and stay balanced on Green (beginner) terrain.
Can sometimes stand up off the seat while riding over bumpy terrain.
Can comfortably stop, steer and change direction.
Introduced to using gears.
Intermediate (Level 2)
Can pedal and stay balanced on Green (beginner) terrain.
Can sometimes stand up off the seat while riding over bumpy terrain.
Can comfortably stop, steer and change direction.
Introduced to using gears.
Key Goals for camp
Can ride while standing up off the seat when descending down a Green trail.
Can show a proper ready position.
Use both front and back brakes to safely come to a stop.
Can understand low and high gears.
Can ride around small obstacles (sticks, rocks, puddles) on Green or easier Blue terrain.
Intermediate Plus (Level 3)
Can ride while standing up off the seat when descending down a Green trail.
Can show a proper ready position.
Use both front and back brakes to safely come to a stop.
Can understand low and high gears.
Can ride around small obstacles (sticks, rocks, puddles) on Green or easier Blue terrain.
Key Goals for camp
Can use correct body positioning on Green and easier Blue terrain.
Comfortable increasing speed on Green and easier Blue terrain.
Can adjust body position appropriately while braking.
Correct timing when using brakes to stay in control.
Shift gears appropriately through Green and easier Blue terrain.
Can ride over small obstacles (sticks, rocks, etc.) with correct body position.
Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line on a Green or easier Blue trail.
Can confidently do a “front wheel lift”.
Advanced (Level 4)
Can use correct body positioning on Green and easier Blue terrain.
Comfortable increasing speed on Green and easier Blue terrain.
Can adjust body position appropriately while braking.
Correct timing when using brakes to stay in control.

Shifting gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence.
Can ride over small obstacles (sticks, rocks, etc.) with correct body position.
Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line on a Blue trail.
Introduced to maneuvers like front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts and bunny hops, etc.
Key Goals for camp
Use correct body positioning on technical Blue and easier Black terrain
Efficient use of both brakes on technical blue terrain to maintain traction and control.
Correct timing when using brakes to maintain speed and control.
Using rotation to help steer thru corners.
Consistently shift gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence, and has been introduced to “Ghost Shifting”.
Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on a technical Blue trail.
Confidently demonstrate maneuvers like front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts and bunny hops, etc.
Introduction to body position over small jumps.
