Advanced Jumps, Drops & Maneuvers Mountain Bike Camp Ages 9-17

Push the limits with your riding in our Advanced Mountain Bike Camp. This program gives young riders the tools to tackle advanced terrain like jumps, drops and different obstacles. Our instructors will provide tips, tactics and feedback to help refine technical skills while having fun on the trails. To be prepared for this level, your child should already be comfortable riding on Blue (Intermediate) or mild Black (advanced) terrain.

Equipment Required

  • Front and rear disk brakes required
  • Front suspension required
  • Rear suspension recommended
  • Certified/Approved Helmet required – Full Face helmet recommended
  • Knee pads strongly recommended
  • Other body armor such as neck brace, chest/back protector, elbow pads recommended, but not required.
  • Proper shoes – no sandals, crocs or boots, must be a proper running/bike shoe.

Advanced (Level 5)

  • Can use correct body positioning on most Blue (intermediate) terrain
  • Can adjust use of brakes to maintain traction and stay in control.
  • Shifting gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence.
  • Can ride over small obstacles (sticks, rocks, etc.) with correct body position.
  • Can show proper technique over a small jump.
  • Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line on a Blue trail.
  • Introduced to maneuvers like front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts and bunny hops, etc.

Key Goals for camp

  • Use correct body positioning on technical Blue and easier Black terrain
  • Efficient use of both brakes on technical blue terrain to maintain traction and control.
  • Correct timing when using brakes to maintain speed and control.
  • Using rotation to help steer through corners.
  • Consistently shift gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence, and has been introduced to “Ghost Shifting”.
  • Can clear small jumps and roll medium sized tabletops.
  • Ride drops or natural features with correct stance.
  • Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on a technical Blue trail.
  • Confidently demonstrate maneuvers like front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts and bunny hops, etc.

Advanced Plus (Level 6)

  • Use correct body positioning on technical Blue and easier Black terrain
  • Efficient use of both brakes on technical blue terrain to maintain traction and control.
  • Correct timing when using brakes to maintain speed and control.
  • Using rotation to help steer thru corners.
  • Consistently shift gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence, and has been introduced to “Ghost Shifting”.
  • Can clear small jumps and roll medium sized tabletops.
  • Ride drops or natural features with correct stance.
  • Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on a technical Blue trail.
  • Confidently demonstrate maneuvers like front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts and bunny hops, etc.

  • Refining advanced technique in different types of corners (flat, bermed and off-cambre).
  • Consistently shifting gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence.
  • Consistently “Ghost Shifting” to put less strain on the drivetrain.
  • Can clear medium to large sized jumps confidently.
  • Ride medium to large sized drops or natural features with correct stance.
  • Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on an advanced Black trail
  • Can apply front wheel lifts, rear wheel lifts and bunny hops and other maneuvers to advanced trails or features.

 

ONLY 6 Public Operational Days Left in the 2022/23 Winter Season, with our final day being Sunday April 2nd, and we’ve got tons of groomed daily Snow for everyone to enjoy!
 
Nitehawk will be OPEN for Skiing & Snowboarding, Friday March 24th, from 5:30-9:30PM.
 
The #Aquatera Tube Zone will be OPEN on Friday (Mar.24) with 2hr Tubing Sessions from 5:00-7:00 & 7:15-9:15pm.
 
Please remember to Pre-purchase your Tube Passes ONLINE up to 4 days in Advance to your visit by clicking the Buy-Online button. NOTE: We only allow 80 people per 2 hour tubing session to create the best experience for all, and to maximize the number of slides each guest gets during their visit. Once spots are sold out online we do not allow Walk-ins.
