The Nitehawk Alpine Ski team is an Alberta Alpine member who works with youth aged 4-18 in ski racer development. The club trains and races at both Nitehawk and in alpine resorts. The club’s affiliation with Alberta Alpine allows athletes to participate in numerous ski racing events across Alberta in both slalom and ski cross events.
The Nancy Greene Ski League is a national program, inaugurated shortly after Nancy Greene Raine’s success at the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Winter Games. Since then, the program has been successful in introducing thousands of children to alpine skiing. Many of Canada’s top international skiers received their early training in Nancy Greene Ski League programs.
Alberta Alpine’s program for entry-level skiers four to ten years of age is the Banff Lodging Company Nancy Greene Ski League. The program introduces children to basic ski techniques and skills, basic safety rules, and teamwork. Enjoyment of the sport and the mountain environment is also emphasized. Ski races are available to Nancy Greene athletes and attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory.
High Performance Skiers have advanced abilities and are invited to join with extra on-snow training and camps. They are encouraged to attend scheduled races and would be considered competitive athletes.
