Hello Grande Prairie & Region Riders,
It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the re-opening of bike trails at Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park. This has been a long process and we are happy to welcome the community back. Although the footprint of our bike park has decreased, we are pivoting to allow more access to our users.
We encourage users to purchase Bike Park Trail Pass Memberships online by clicking this link: https://gonitehawk.com/bike-park-trail-pass/
to help support us as we move ahead in a new direction for biking. Based on this new model, “Pedal Power”, we will also be looking for Community Members to come together for trail maintenance to keep this trails safe and fun.
With these changes to how we operate we will NOT be offering rentals or bike tools, onsite first-aid or food services. We will be looking at ways to adapt and engage other community partners who may want to collaborate with us as demand grows in the future for those services.
We will be launching our Volunteer Trail Maintenance Program this Saturday July 10th from 9am – 2pm for community members to assist in the re-opening of the trails. After this initial sweep we will identify areas that need continued work as well as a regular schedule for ongoing maintenance. It’s our hope that the “Pedal Power” model will reduce the needed maintenance.
Another big part of this is respect for the trails; when we experience a significant rain event, it will be important to stay off the trails until they are properly dried.
Users coming to enjoy the trails also need to realize that there is no morning sweep on this trail network. That is why we want everyone to “Pre-Ride
” as trails can change daily. There will be an information board installed with our new map, and other relevant safety info for users as well as a reactivation of certain trails on Trailforks
Should you notice any Maintenance or Safety issues during your time on the trails, once we re-open, we ask that you please submit them using this link: https://forms.gle/v9p2S4n8USHbUvqk8
We will be releasing more information on long-term plans for re-building and expanding as the season progresses and we look forward to seeing you at the Bike Park again soon.
